NSS Personnels to undergo mandatory military training - President John Dramani Mahama Story by Michael Dordzavu

Ghana's President, John Dramani Mahama, in his first State of the Nation Address (SoNA) on February 27, 2025, mentioned that a legal instrument has been prepared and is yet to be submitted to the legislature. This legal instrument proposes that all national service personnel undergo a mandatory short period of military training before assuming duties at their various posting centers.

According to the president, this initiative will be highly beneficial as it will ensure that the youth or new graduates are physically and mentally fit and adequately prepared to serve the nation.

The National Service Secretariat, now known as the National Service Authority, is responsible for overseeing the posting of fresh graduates from various universities and tertiary institutions across the country.

The service performed by the graduates is part of their commitment to the nation, as they were supported by the state during their time of study at these institutions.
