Breaking News!! Pilot And Photographer Working For News Station Killed In New Jersey Helicopter Crash. December 20,2023.

A pilot and a photographer working for a Philadelphia news station were killed when their helicopter crashed in New Jersey on Tuesday night as the pair were returning from an assignment.

The pilot and photographer were returning from an assignment at the Jersey Shore for 6ABC News, a Philadelphia affiliate, when their helicopter crashed Tuesday around 8 p.m., according to 6ABC News.

The news station did not release their identities, but 6ABC said the pilot and photographer have “a long history” with the station and have been working there for years.

The helicopter was last airborne over Wharton State Forest, less than 30 miles from Philadelphia, before it crashed in an isolated part of the world, the station said.

New Jersey State Park Police were first notified about a missing helicopter just before 11 p.m. Tuesday night and just after midnight a state park police officer found debris from the crash, New Jersey State Park Police Chief George Fedorczyk told reporters Wednesday.

WHAT WE DON’T KNOW

It’s unclear what the cause of the crash was.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR

NTSB officials are expected to arrive on the scene of the crash Wednesday, an unnamed FAA representative told 6ABC News.
