The Chip - Embedded Passport.

Minister for Foreign Affairs Hon. Sam Okudzeto Ablakwa has announced that, Ghana is overhauling its passport system starting April 28, 2025, with key upgrades including chip-embedded passports for enhanced security, 24/7 passport office operations, and express courier delivery. 

Applicants can expect faster processing within 15 working days and potentially lower fees, from GHS500 to GHS350 after Parliament resumes and amends the Fees and Charges Act.

These reset reforms comes as good news.

Some new changes to newly chip embedded passport. The features include and also comes at a reduced cost compared to the previous ones.

1) Switch to Chip-Embedded Passports; 

2) 24-Hour Operations;

3) Direct passport delivery at your convenience through courier;

4) e-Tracking System;

5) Delivery under 15 days;

6) Reduced Application Fees (from GHS500 to GHS350) — will take effect when Parliament returns from recess and amends the Fees and Charges Act.
